What is a doula?

why do we need doulas?

Doula care is starting to become new in Western Cultures. The role of the Doula has been around for generations, providing effective support for growing families. The role of a Doula requires diversity and knowledge of the community. Part of Doula care is to educate families to specifically support their needs.

Modern support for babies is most often seen in the form of a baby shower before the baby is born. There is a lot to consider and prepare for when expecting a baby. But what about the parents? Who supports them as they welcome home tiny souls? The postpartum doula provides confident, holistic care to support parents to reach their maximum nurturing potential.

My approach to doula care

Evidence-Based Information:

This may look like soothing techniques, lactation support, bottle-feeding support, education on newborn behavior or discussing postpartum recovery expectations.

If we encounter a situation that requires attention, I will make a referral recommendation so you can get the support you need.

Emotional & practical Support:

It takes a village to raise a baby, let’s make sure your days go more smoothly!

My role as a postpartum doula is to provide emotional and practical support. Active listening, encouragement, baby’s laundry, dishes, organization are all part of the care I offer, so you are set up for success day and night.

Family Integration Support:

Already have kiddos at home or other integration hurdles? No problem. Let’s make sure everyone feels included while bringing baby home.
